Yob deported from Turkey
A British teenager was deported from Turkey last night after stripping off and waving his manhood in front of a national hero’s statue. Thomas Strong, 19, was on holiday when he strode up to the quayside statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and dropped his shorts.
An angry boatmen who called police said: “He just stripped his clothes off and started waving his manhood and swearing at Ataturk. Police put him in handcuffs. He’s lucky it was the police that took him. Ataturk is a national hero the local boys wanted to kill him for being so insulting.”
Strong told police: “I don’t know why I did it.” After drunkenness was ruled out, a judge in Marmaris ordered he be banned for five years and put on an aircraft to the UK at Dalaman airport.

A TEENAGER from Carlisle has been deported from Turkey after he stripped naked and yelled insults at a statue of a national hero.
As locals looked on in horror, 19-year-old Tom Strong hurled abuse at the statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who founded the Turkish republic and is among the country’s most revered figures. He is held in such high regard by his countrymen that to insult him is deemed a criminal offence.
The teenager staged the bizarre insult on Sunday afternoon while on holiday in Marmaris, a Mediterranean port city in south-west Turkey.
Some locals were so incensed that they wanted to kill Strong, and a website has been set up calling for him to be hanged.
Angry local boatmen called the police after Strong marched up to the 30ft quayside marble statue, dropped his shorts, and launched a tirade of abuse.
Ayhan Hatay, who operates a boat out of Marmaris, said: “We couldn’t believe what we were seeing.
“Lots of tourists come and look at the Ataturk statue and take pictures. But this lad was something else – he stripped his clothes off and started waving his manhood and swearing at Ataturk. “The police were there in minutes and took him away in handcuffs. “To be honest he’s lucky it was the police that took him – Ataturk is the father of the Turkish Republic and a national hero.
“The local boys wanted to kill him for being so insulting. What is it about the British that they seem to enjoy being so rude and disrespectful?” Strong, who was identified in court as Thomas Robert Strong, from Carlisle, was taken to hospital to determine whether he was drunk or mentally-ill but he was given a clean bill of health.
He was then held in police cells for several hours before being put before a special court on Sunday afternoon. The teenager appeared before a judge facing a charge of insulting Ataturk. When questioned Strong said: “I don’t know why I did it.”
The judge ordered his immediate deportation from Turkey and banned him from returning for five years. After the court case, on Sunday evening, Strong was taken by police to Dalaman airport and put on a UK bound plane.
The offence of insulting Ataturk, the former Army Officer who led the Turkish national movement and established the Republic of Turkey in 1923, is punishable by imprisonment for Turks. Born in 1881, Ataturk was President of Turkey for 15 years until his death in 1938.
